How many bodies do you have?
That’s always a question they ask when they’re intimidated by my presence.
I’ve dug more graves for the bodies I’ve tasted than fingers and toes on my frame and yours and maybe his too.
I’ve lost count of the jokes I’ve told to men just to get them to undress and drop their pants.
Maybe 5 have touched me in places that felt kind.
Maybe 3 have proposed to me with a ring and a glass of wine.
Maybe 1 gave me children and thought that would make me stay but I wonder if the rest would have wanted to trade places with him, had they been given a chance.
Half the bodies that I caught were out of lust not some great need to be seen.
In fact, I hope some of those bodies never crawl from out of their graves, for my time spent with them was brief and much more than a mistake.
That lust monster knows no limit, has no boundaries; revels in sin.
So if those people turn into zombies, I’ll have to snuff them out with “it wasn’t good” and “my bad, homie’s” double-tap, make sure they don‘t spill the dirty facts.
So don’t ask me how many bodies I have, the right question is—would I let them come back.

About The Author
Miss. Imani is more than a Maryland-born singer and author; she is a chronicler of the human soul.
Starting her journey as a reader and writer at age four, she was raised by creative parents who fostered her love for the intersection of poetry and melody.
Her artistry is an act of reclamation. By diving into the unfiltered truths of her past, she creates a safe space for her audience to do the same. Her mission is to tell the stories that often go unheard—starting with her own family and extending to the world.
With a discography spanning Tidal and Soundcloud and most major platforms, Miss. Imani is now stepping into a new chapter with the release of her first book.
