MIAMI, FL — Crystal Dionne is a plus-size petite model on a mission, actively building her brand and eagerly anticipating a collaborative agency partnership. With a passion ignited in high school back in 2001, Dionne found a world then unready for her unique offering. She never saw a model of her caliber represented in the mainstream and decided to wait for the industry to evolve.
“I waited until I seen a difference in the industry,” Crystal Dionne says, citing visibility from models like Amina Blue and Tess Holiday as signs that the landscape was finally changing.
Today, Dionne stands at the forefront of a transformative era, celebrating the opening of doors for women who, like her, embrace their authentic selves.
At 5’2″, with an undeniable presence, Dionne is carving out her niche. Her journey of self-acceptance and creative expression now shines through in Real List Magazine, UBO MAG and Goat Boy Magazine. The pivotal shift came in 2025, when she embraced her uniqueness with “way more pazazz,” began her natural hair journey, and decided to push forward with her lifelong goal.
“One of my best friends, Takita and I vowed in 2004 to become Professional Models together,” Dionne explains. “She came to me earlier in 2025 and asked for me to enter a contest to become a model for a local photographer named Roy Morris. This is how I started working towards the goal.”
The Art of Self-Expression
Dionne’s version of the art of modeling is defined by genuine connection and versatility. She brings a signature energy—confidence, seriousness, and positivity—to every shoot.
“My personality comes out through my facial expressions, poses and my candid shots,” she states. “I bring versatility and showcase my natural beauty.”
This authenticity stems directly from her dedication to self-love. Dionne’s commitment to mind, body and soul ensures that how she feels about herself is perfectly mirrored in her photography. She believes the current industry shift—offering more opportunities for brand builders to connect via self-promotion and collaborate with great photographers—is incredibly optimistic.
The model is focused on fit modeling and commercial work, genres where she believes her specific build offers unique value.
“I feel I would be perfect to demonstrate how a product looks or feels on me,” Dionne says, adding that commercial projects bring out her acting skills. For User-Generated Content (UGC), she is eager to focus on demonstrating the success of haircare products, such as Shine and Jam Mousse, following her switch to natural hair.

The Legacy and Future Vision
As an independent model, Dionne says her biggest triumph so far has been networking, which gave her “unbelievable exposure back to back.” However, her most difficult challenge was purely internal.
“My biggest challenge was just deciding to go for it!” Dionne exclaims.
Looking ahead, Dionne is currently ready to collaborate with photographers and brands that align with her inspiring message of inclusivity and creative ownership. Her dream is to work with the brand Lane Bryant and the photographer Cass Bird. She is eager to do collabs that will help her “climb to the next level and leave Tennessee.”
She offers a clear message to other plus-size and petite aspiring models:
“If modeling is what you really would like to do, start preparing your portfolio. Set yourself in place as if you are already a professional. Keep up with a plus model that is similar to your size. You can do this too!”
Outside of modeling, Dionne recharges through an activity she calls “Embracing God.” Through her continued work, her story amplifies the crucial shift in the industry, proving that beauty knows no single dimension.
“We do have a lot to bring to the modeling industry just as taller and slimmer models do,” states Crystal Dionne.
