  1. Outstanding story. Rahman represents his generation well due to his wide spectrum of direct experience as a practitioner from martial arts, acting, expository writing, music, philosophy and esoteric studies. Such a well-prepared man sets an example as a role-model of excellence for generations succeeding and preceding him.

Problems cannot be solved at the level they occur. Solutions can only be discovered from a higher perspective. Self-development, study and training are required by an individual before that individual can understand the dynamics of experience.

The American educational system used to teach youth how to become productive citizens. Now it teaches subjects (not people) and is fast reducing the core subjects to a very few. Math and science have become the flagships of the system and the arts have been all but eliminated. Reversing this trend is essential for our survival as a nation as Rahman indicates and we must not take this lightly. The math being taught lags far behind the math done by computers which technology proliferates a new generation every few weeks or less today. The science being taught is erroneous theoretically for the most part and the half-life of scientific theories has become increasing short. The science of 50 years ago is wrong today (which means that it was wrong 50 years ago). Likewise the science of 5 years ago is wrong today. Even the science of last year is wrong today with the recent discovery of dark matter, for example. However, the music and art of 50 years ago is still valid today. The music of 200 years ago and even the art of 5000 years ago is valid today. It seems clear that music and art have permanent validity and asset value and those individuals (from DaVinci to Tesla to Rahman Jamaal)who can take an invisible thought and fashion a golden egg of everlasting value are celebrated the least in our society. It would seem we are running blindly toward the wrong goal post.

Thank you Aaris fro writing this article and giving us a chance to share it at large.

  2. “[We] need to recognize the importance of education and arts. There will be a revolution of the arts that the government will need to recognize.”

Rahman Jamaal clearly has a full understanding of the importance of arts education. As previously mentioned, he works with the Performing Arts Workshop in San Francisco to bring arts workshops to local ‘at-risk’ youth. Please support this great program by visiting performingartsworkshop.org to learn more about the programs offered and to find ways to get involved!
