Showcasing Talent from San Francisco, Oakland and Sacramento at The New Parish and Air Lounge

Oakland, CA – January 11, 2013 – Several Northern CA Hip-Hop and Reggae Acts are to Perform Under Two Roofs; The New Parish and Air Lounge, Sunday, January 20 in Oakland, CA Along with Local Vendors to Benefit The Marcus Garvey Building, an A-1 + Rated National Historical Landmark in West Oakland that is Due to be Seized by Citi Property Holdings, Inc (A Florida Hedge Fund).

The Marcus Garvey Building also known as Liberty Hall, located at 1485 8th St, Oakland, CA is a national historical landmark, with the same rating as the White House has been working alongside its community for over 100 years. Marcus Garvey, originally from Jamaica and eventually sent back by the government was known best as a community activist, journalist and leader. Formally Post 188 of Marcus Garvey’s Universal Negro Improvement Association (U.N.I.A.), the former home of the Black Pullman Porters, Father Devine and Jubilee West, Inc, it is now home to Overcomers With Home (O.W.H.) a non-profit organization that educates at-risk youth in Video/Audio Engineering and Media Production, Jack London Square Church of God & Christ, the West Oakland Community Information/Resource Center and Pitch Mixer Entrepreneur Forum and Intuitive Interactive Outreach.

OMY-UBO Multi-Media Services has booked a two-venue benefit for The Marcus Garvey Building at The New Parish (579 18th St, Oakland, CA) starting at 5:00 PM and then everyone will travel by bike or car to Air Lounge (492 9th St. ), show resuming at 10 PM. Guests will be stamped and asked to pay a $10 donation at The New Parish. Those who choose to travel to Air Lounge from The New Parish are invited to join us at the after party, anyone else will be asked to pay the same $10 donation.

Performing at The New Parish will be Sacramento, CA-based Conscious Hip-Hop Act and a part of The People’s Revolution, Tribe of Levi. Opening acts include Old Ghost (also a member and founder of The People’s Revolution) and The DJ Project Artists of Oakland, emcee Fego and R&B singer, Cole. Follow everyone over to Air Lounge and check out Sacramento-based reggae act, Zion Roots with opening acts by Rahman Jamaal of Redwood City (Hip-Hop Congress Director & Hip-Hop Educator), local emcee King Kosh (Part of 5 Star Generals and Educator of Go Media Kids, where he teaches Audio/Video Engineering to Youth) and Oakland-based DLabrie (of RDV Record Label and Hip-Hop Congress Director).

To educate the people and host the event, Shake Anderson AKA Shake9169 will hold the mic and the ones and twos will be blessed by The DJ Project’s director, Korise Jubert and DJ Wrecckdavegan.
