Taydem Shoesmith is a young actress who got her start with the short film, “In The Dark,” (June 2021) along with others and more recently acted in the independent short film, “Hope” (both released through Acrostar Films). “Hope” is a film about learning how to come to grips with a poor mental state and facing inner demons.
But we are here to talk about her music. Taydem Shoesmith fell in love with the arts, including music at a young age, memories of her father singing to her led Shoesmith to follow a musical pathway. She began writing music as she entered high school – it was something private for just herself but the more comfortable she felt in her own skin and with her writing, Shoesmith began to share her musical writings and songs with others.
“I haven’t done a lot with my music yet even though I’ve loved it for so long. I feel like I ignored it because I never had the talent – but although I am lacking in a lot of places, I felt it was time to start putting my music out there. I hope you can find some sort of comfort from my music.”
Taydem Shoesmith shares as she comes into herself as a young woman.
As her confidence grew, Shoesmith began to release music on Soundcloud a year ago (2021-2022) and now, in conjunction with MTS Management Group, Shoesmith is releasing her debut single, “Are You Clapping” New Years’ Eve 2022 as we celebrate and enter into the new year.
“Are You Clapping” is an electro-pop song about being alright with ourselves, being single and learning about ourselves. The song makes sense since Shoesmith is young and still learning about who she is despite her passions for music and acting. The song is sort of an anthem for teenagers to learn how to fall in love with themselves and not fall for others who can lead them down the wrong path.
“The song is about confidence. Knowing that you are good without a significant other — even though people or society might tell you otherwise, you might feel pressure to change who you are when it comes to dating and relationships. I sure felt that pressure. But if we’re not honest with them or with ourselves from the get-go, then what’s the point? I know it’s easier said than done to just be yourself but as long as you’re not hurting anyone, live how you want. Most people might not understand you, but the right people will. I hope you enjoy the song!”
According to Taydem Shoesmith.
Shoesmith has a variety of musical influences that help gauge the style and rhythm she brings, including Michael Jackson, Rascal Flatts, Billie Holiday, Sabrina Carpenter and Camila Cabello. Besides acting and making music, Shoesmith is making short videos on her Youtube page to promote her new celebrity.
