Just close your eyes and imagine paradise on the island of Kauai, that is where singer-songwriter Nialanii Green hails from. Her voice is full of melody, soft with a little mystery and that is what makes Nialani so great.
Reminiscent of both Sade and Aaliyah, Hawaiian native Nialanii’s beautifully architected voice can move into several genres masterfully. Nialanii’s mellow soulful voice ebbs through rhythm and flows with the blues, elevating her unique spirit.
Listening to the song written by Nialanii, “Paradise,” produced by Phillip Davis and mixed/engineered by Dawsøn your ears will be pulled by the piano’s airy melody that has roots pulling on Nialanii’s heartstrings. The song tugs at the heartache of a man finding the one. Yet the one isn’t ready; she knows what it means to be free. The song delicately showcases their relationship and how it ended the way it did. Nialanii’s influences range from Anderson Pak to Victoria Monet.
Nialanii does it again with, “Old Fashioned,” a soft, flowing song about being connected to someone and the power of love that comes with it. The track is laid down fundamentally with some deep, lower-pitched drums, creating overtones and adding synchronized booms throughout the song. This allows Nialani’s voice to ripple between the beats until she finds her old-fashioned love. Produced, engineered and mixed by Josh Garrison and Nialanii “Old Fashion” is definitely a song that percolates desire and passion.
Nialanii’s vibe emits conscious harmony with an upbeat message which will allow her to win when it comes to creating new music. Much of her passion and experience with music comes from her family where she fanatically listened to music until 2018 when she began to record her own songs. With the blessing and help of her father, she learned how to produce at a young age and has been writing, singing and mixing ever since. Nialanii plans on releasing a self-titled EP in the first half of 2023, so be on the lookout for that.
