SACRAMENTO, CA — The California Film Foundation is calling all local creatives to Old Sacramento this Saturday for a high-stakes fusion of style and cinema.
The Fashion On Film (FOF) Cast and Crew Call will take place April 25 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 926 2nd St. The event, created by Sacramento Film Festival director Martin Anaya, serves as the primary matchmaking session for the Synergy Challenge, a collaborative competition where designers, models and filmmakers unite to produce short fashion films.
During the meeting, participants will form teams in preparation for a rigorous one-day shoot scheduled for May 9. On that day, teams will have only six hours to capture their vision using the Reunion Underground and the historic surroundings of Old Sacramento as a backdrop.
“The idea is to produce bold, innovative short films,” the foundation stated. “In essence, these are short music videos where the frame is your runway.”

Completed films must be under four minutes and submitted by May 24. While the project is a non-paid community event, the stakes remain high. The most exceptional submissions will receive a world premiere at the 31st annual Sacramento International Film Festival this summer and teams will compete for a $1,000 grand prize.
Organizers are encouraging models to dress to impress, while filmmakers, actors and makeup artists are urged to attend to find talent or join a crew. The FOF Live event is scheduled to take place in August as part of the larger festival circuit.
The event is free to the community but an RSVP is required. Those with existing fashion films can also submit their work via FilmFreeway.
