SAN FRANCISCO — Bay Area hip-hop artist LiL MC has released her latest single and visual, “Lucid,” kicking off the public campaign for her upcoming concept album and screenplay project, Where Did All The Dreamers Go?

According to her official biography, the classically trained pianist turned self-taught lyricist rose through the Oakland underground battle scene as one of the only women to capture championship titles. Today, the Queens of the Underground founder brings over 15 years on the mic, experience touring across three continents and a history of teaching more than 1,000 students to her expansive creative catalog. Having previously earned placements on NBA 2K21, NBA Top Shot and Billboard Hip Hop while sharing stages with Too Short, E-40, and D12, her latest effort marks a bold new chapter.

Set in a dystopian future where artificial intelligence has automated human creativity and displaced working artists, the overarching narrative of Where Did All The Dreamers Go? details a world where dreaming itself is rare, organic and inherently dangerous to corporate tech entities. “Lucid” serves as the primary sonic entry point into this world, examining the tension between genuine human emotion and algorithmic polish.

The track opens with LiL MC rhyming in a seductively light cadence, leaning into soft vocal textures that lure the listener into a false sense of ease. Beneath that smooth, airy delivery lies an immediate existential sharp edge, setting up the conflict between surface appearances and internal turmoil.

Produced, mixed and mastered by Whose, the sonic arrangement plays a central role in translating the story’s heavy thematic weight. Whose utilizes subtle pitch shifts, low-pass filters and vocal fades that pull the tracks down into slow, pitch-dropped sound-vibes. By intentionally decelerating the track’s momentum, the production mimics the feeling of slipping into a trance or fighting off an automated reality.

LiL MC uses that slowed tempo to dissect identity, questioning whether individual expression can survive when life starts to feel pre-programmed.

Directed and shot by Sirrealist, the accompanying music video visually anchors the narrative through dark, cinematic framing. Stylized hair and makeup by Vel Nine contrast raw, organic human features against cold, clinical environments. The visual storytelling reinforces the single’s core query, showing an artist physically wrestling with automated systems to reclaim control over her own narrative.

In addition to her new music rollout, LiL MC is slated to perform live on August 8 at Club Tac in Crockett, California for Aire Redtree’s Golden Jubilee. The evening doubles as Aire Redtree’s 50th birthday celebration and the Beats for Peace Talent Showcase, featuring the release of a 100-song box set benefiting WHY Hunger alongside the launch of eXmf Apparel.
