If you haven’t heard of New Orleans Hip Hop artist La Reezy, then you are behind the times. The young Hip Hop artist is more than just a rapper; he is an entrepreneur who produces music, works in film and video production, oversees product launches and manages his own digital platform.
His first album, “U.T.H. – Utilizing Time Here,” showcases his rap skills. La Reezy performed at the 30th Annual ESSENCE Music Festival of Culture, where impresses fans and left them wanting more. He also recently dropped, “Welcome To La Reezyana Vol. 1,” a new mixtape that, according to La Reezy’s team, “transforms challenges into lyrical victories. As New Orleans’ heart, he’s hungry for greatness, uplifting others.”
Upon listening to La Reezy, you can feel his energy: a burst of something new, fresh, yet familiar. La Reezy carries the roots of Hip Hop through the beats and lyricism that finds himself on his album. Starting off “Welcome to LA Reezyanna Vol 1,” La Reezy, who is Generation Z, generated excitement to begin his album. “Party in New Orleans,” opens with drill team-style drumming reminiscent of a backdrop in a cowboy movie, moving along with him as he recites, “We all from the hood…”
La Reezy’s vibe appears to be the next big thing and is reminiscent of when Anderson .Paak first came onto the scene. La Reezy’s track, “I Look Good” has this type of energy and the power to resonate strongly. At the same time, La Reezy’s spirit seems to be a mixture of A Tribe Called Quest and Andre 3000 (OutKast), with hard-hitting and thoughtful lyrics, creating easy-to-listen to Hip Hop that anyone could enjoy without sounding overly commercialized.
The rest of the album includes Black Power boom-bap-style beats (think background music to The Black Panthers) on “Venus Fly Trap,” where La Reezy theatrically expresses his feelings about not falling for “the trap.” “Trolley Genius” (Youtube Short) hits hard with that 808 bass drum kit Atlanta, GA is known for. Lastly, “Liberated”concludes the album on a high note with more boom-bap and touches of jazz, along with that dope realist lyricism La Reezy is known for!

La Reezy, 20, has already released over 200 tracks, three studio albums, seven mixtapes, more than 60 music videos (can we say, ‘wow?’),
a short film, documentary and numerous live performances for his fans. All of this is due to his engaging Hip Hop
music and his apparent skills
in marketing of his brand. In addition to all of this, La Reeze gives back to his community with Leader Of The U.T.H., an annual coat drive and has worked for government organizations that facilitate youth empowerment, receiving positive applause for his efforts.
“La Reezy is one of my favorite new artists! He hails from NOLA & is puttin’ on for his city. This song was the first song I heard from him & it’s one of those that hit you as soon as you hear it. At 19 years of age, he’s running circles around some of the older emcee’s I’ve seen and he’s consistent. Listen to what he’s sayin, he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with👂🏽🎧. He’s an emcee, producer & audio engineer; that’s what you call taking matters into your own hands,” according to Nubi The Ear Hustler™, host of We Ear Hustling Baby™ and Co Host at Weekly Rap Gods™.
He is not alone in all of these efforts. His father, Rasheed Salahuddin, also known as Mr. Super Fantastic (Super Fantastic Digital Marketing Agency) serves as his son’s mentor, guiding him through his music career and ventures. Additionlly, Najah Shakir, a New Orleans resident, assists La Reezy in optimizing his organizational performance. Shakir also serves as chair of a governance committee for a local charter school and holds the position of secretary for the executive executive board of the charter school. Besides La Reezy’s father and community builder Shakir, Andrew Boylan is also on board, advising La Reezy in business development, marketing and operations. The team’s slogan is, “Jump the Barricade” to encourage pursuing dreams.
With all of this, this “once-in-a-millennium” artist, LA Reezy, is a power to be reckoned with in the independent Hip Hop industry. La Reezy’s mission is “to inspire a generation of people to pursue their dreams, fulfill their purpose and strive to become a better version of themselves.” This artist and entrepreneur has a clear vision of a world where everyone is motivated and can break free from norms to be their best themselves.
Recently, La Reezy and The Hip Hop Museum teamed up with Making It Look Kool Apparel to raise money and awareness for DREAM Charter School in The Bronx; later, he was seen shooting music at OnTheRadar. La Reezy is one Hip Hop artist you wanna work with and get down to. It is looking like the younger generation is bringing Hip Hop back.
