UBO and Vocab Slick go back about three years but we are a part of a movement that involves pushing indie Hip Hop’s envelope and for Vocab that means continuing to create dope-ass tracks and spreading the word across our region and the entire U.S. and beyond.
We are talking about speaking the truth through love, we are asking you to ‘believe’ and that is why we love the era of the beat; something from 1960’s gospel and R&B mashed with rock-inspired boom-bap track entitled, “Make Believe,” featuring Dela The Fella (Roseland, CA) with super tight production by Surebert. With many of Vocab’s tenor-based rap-singing lyrics that at times are overlaid with a pop of electricity makes this song branded as “Santa Rosa Hip Hop” which helps to lend a hand to Dela The Fella’s friendly preacher-vibe.
“Push yourself man, some people are behind you even when you can’t feel it, man. Sometimes you gotta know and you gotta have some mutha fuc*in’ faith man, there is a lot of hate out there, there is way more love though. Tell your mother and father you love them. Tell your friends and your kids that you’re proud of ‘em. Hug somebody tight and firm. Have pride in your self-expression.” Words from Dela The Fella.
‘Standing on a wing and a prayer,’ according to Vocab, is exactly what it is like when you make authentic musical Hip Hop vibes like Vocab. Over here at UBO, we support the cause, keep it pushing and can’t wait for the next track to drop!
