Sacramento-based emcee and Hip Hop historian Bru Lei is bringing Hip Hop barbershop debates straight to your living room. The underground artist known for projects like “Shroom Crumbs“ (2009) and the acclaimed album “7“ (2017) has created Rap Attack. It is an adult trivia and debate-style tabletop card game built specifically for Hip Hop heads.
Originally hailing from Ohio, Bru Lei relocated to Sacramento in 2005 alongside producer DJ PRZM. The close-knit group of friends made the cross-country move to support DJ PRZM as he awaited a heart transplant. Sadly the procedure was not a success and the beloved beatmaker passed away in 2007. The surviving crew members remained in California where Bru Lei continues to build his legacy. He still frequently travels back to Ohio to visit family, reconnect with lifelong friends and perform live shows.

Centered around the culture, his new tabletop game challenges players to argue, discuss and test their knowledge of Hip Hop artists, eras and greatest hits. Rap Attack is designed for music fans to spark top 10 lists, hot takes and passionate debates about classic rap rankings. It focuses on comedic, educational and fun conversations about the architects of the most influential music genre of all time.
The physical card game is best played with three to 10 players. It is targeted at audiences ages 18 and older and typically retails for around $29.99. Fans can pick up a copy directly from the Rap Attack Game official store or browse Twelves Wax to check local inventory. Twelves Wax is an independent record shop located at 3324 Broadway in Oak Park which is a historic urban neighborhood just off the Downtown Sacramento grid.
Bru Lei actively promotes the game by hosting live playing sessions, community game nights and on-air demonstrations. He recently featured Rap Attack on Top $helf Radio via The 360 Radio Network and on live FM broadcasts like 95.7 KUTZ. He also hosts special pop-up events at regional spaces including the Roseville Venture Lab and World Famous V.I.P Records.
Beyond the tabletop, Bru Lei remains deeply rooted in Hip Hop preservation. In a detailed interview feature with The Real Hip-Hop, he broke down his approach to archival music and what it was like working with the late DJ PRZM on their “Crumbs” project. Another feature explored how he managed to write a highly acclaimed rap album without a single profanity and how he linked up with Wu-Tang Clan affiliate Killah Priest. Rap Attack is simply his latest vessel to ensure the culture is respected while keeping Hip Hop history alive.
