The Life of Winter

Tales of summer whistle through an autumn breeze
Awakening to the new brisk winter freeze
Droplets renew and help mulch the earthly droppings
Get your firewood now, fill the holes in the roads or they will be a sopping
Lovebirds become selfish with their toes to each other’s legs
Children bundle up and dream of homemade candies, cookies and cakes
Winter stories of snow walking to school arise from the elderly
Goosebumps rise, birds fly south and kids play outside seldomly
Thanksgiving brings the turkey, family and rain
Christmas offers the ham, hot woodstove fires and candy canes
The New Year fortunes all with new hope
Now all the children back to school with new clothing that’s dope
Winter sports are all the glee, snowboarding, skiing and ice skating
By the time February hits everyone for spring they are waiting
Whispering sweet nothings to their sweetie and lots of love making
Finally the sun shows his bright face, warmth for little and tall
Remembering why all seasons are beautiful for all
