Sunday, April 17, 2011 – UBOHAMMER Presents Screen Printing Workshops in Sacramento, CA.  The teacher, Leon Willis A.K.A. AycRock shows locals the complexity to what many think is a simple skill.

AycRock goes step-by-step, first by showing students how to create a stencil and then the layers of that stencil for each color of their print.  Finally, students get to drop some ink, use the squeegee and make their creation come to life!

The classes made anything from holiday cards to random pieces of art and logos.  They key is to use flat stock vs. anything else that will be printed on so that students can focus on the artistic aspects and the processes that occur while screen printing.

The first class was April 17, this was the “free” class and unfortunately we do not have any images of this class but we had a total of about 15 people who came in and out in a five-hour period.  Usually our classes ran late but that was the beauty of these workshops.  People didn’t care because they were so concentrated on their art that the time would just not matter.

We started exactly at 3 pm and went on until 6 pm but the range of the class understood that we meant business so everyone came with their questions handy and ready to get some ink on their minds!

Insane Buzz was also in the building this day recording the going ons of a screen print workshop for a documentary.  You can check out other films by Insane Buzz at http://www.insanebuzz.com
