KBMB 103.5, local Sacramento hip-hop and R&B radio station, owned and operated by Clear Channel is going back to basics by starting a two hour segment every Sunday from 8-10 pm called 80 West, dedicated to all local urban sounds.

DJed by radio personalities Nikia and Famous, already pertinent factors and voices at KBMB will be discovering and sharing local soul, r&b, hip-hop, street rap and spoken word.  The two will be featuring interviews, playing local music and speaking about the value of supporting locally made music.

August 21 makes the official launch party for 80 West.  Nikia and Famous hosted this event while DJ SN1 mixed the ones and twos.  Local artists such as Ryan K and Aaron Young crooned soulful R&B while Mahtie Bush got down to his “BACKPACKRAMENTO” underground beats.  D. Scott, Khiry Malik, ForWord and Heather Christian enlightened the crowd with spoken word from the heart while Jimmie Reign danced her Whitney Houston inspired r&b into every guys mind.  Local street rapper, J. Gib stepped on the stage and performed crowd favorites and main acts, Bay Area recording artists Balance, San Quinn, The Jacka and Big Rich deemed Sacramento viable as they grabbed the mic and the crowd’s attention into hip-hop frenzy.

This exclusive launch party for 80 West ended with a little networking, a free t-shirt and smiles towards the future of KBMB’s newest local show.
