Ubo-Hammer Makin’ the News!

OAKLAND, CA – SEPT. 24, 2010 – GRIND FOR THE GREEN, ALSO KNOWN AS G4G is taking a fall/winter hiatus due to budget cuts.  Saturday, August 14 was a successful day for FreshFest, an event put on in Oakland, CA by G4G, Global Exchange and Get Fresh Coalition offered six full hours of urban music and educating the community about important matters such as eco-sustainability and green awareness on our planet.
Local non-profits such as Green For All, Soul of the City, Oakland Green Youth Media Arts Center, Oakland Local and BayLocalize were all in attendance and had booths available for hands-on education.  Mobil Green spoke about solar energy and its importance.  Attendees learned about community gardens, bicycling vs. driving and more. The day was full of surprises as The Coup, Phife [A Tribe Called Quest] and Mistah F.A.B. all performed at this eco-hip-hop event.
G4G will take a six month break to reflect upon their vision, direction to sprout back into the community Spring 2011.  Support G4G today by donating to their cause, hip-hop, community and green-awareness by visiting their website at http://www.grindforthegreen.com.

ROSEVILLE, CA – SEPT. 25, 2010 – NINTH ANNUAL ONEROOT FESTIVAL – UBO-HAMMER was there to see it as we created cool t-shirts for hip-hop performer, J Ross Parrelli with surprise guest, Random Abyladese, a Roseville native.
Other performers included J. Ross’s brother, reggae/hip-hop artist J Ras of SouLifted, Rasta Generation, Banner Mountain Boys and Mercy Me as the headliner. There were food, arts and crafts and vendors selling t-shirts [like UBO-Hammer], unique jewelery, purses and booths selling classes for different dance, sword fighting and martial art schools. The event was a success.
If you did not get a J Ross Parrelli t-shirt, contact her at FaceBook: J Ross-Parrelli.

SACRAMENTO, CA – SEPT. 26, 2010 -SOUTHSIDE PARK’S SANGRIA SUNDAYS – On the North-Side of Southside Park was a Mexican Celebration that St. Andrews AME Church put on for their followers and community.  On the far South-Side of Southside Park was Sangria Sunday, an underground movement that you won’t be able to experience without joining!  Bring friends, something to hydrate and munch on and you are ready to go!
If you are into working out, stretching, etc – then wear something stretchy and comfy.  UBO-Hammer will be teaching all different types of activities; Sho-Shu Karate; which started it all, perhaps some break dancing lessons and next Sunday, yoga.  If you get there before us, there is the Open Farmer’s Market across the way, under the bridge on X St.  Get some veggies and meat to fire up on the grill!  Eat organic!
If you want to get down with us by attending or participating in any way, we would love to have you join us at Southside Park each and every Sunday.  RSVP your desires to: Facebook.com/UBOMAG.

UBO-Hammer Reviews

Review: Underground Music You Ain’t Ever Heard Of!

Every week, I will pull four CDs out of my box, stack, mp3 lists, etc that are sent to me, completely at random and share them with you! If you want your album, single or mix tape reviewed, mail it to us!

Band: UndaKova
Album: Acknowledgement 365
Location: Lower Manhattan
Website: http://www.facebook.com/pages/UndaKova/21769650453 // www.reverbnation.com/undakova [find links to purchase music]
Anthem-style hip-hop music, anyone can tell that this local Lower Manhattan emcee has some strong points to be made with songs such as “Haiti” and  “They Don’t Really Care About Us,” to be released on his album, “S.A.D. Album.”  With positive lyrics and chill, smooth beats, this is the type of hip-hop music that the whole family can listen to.

Band: TD Camp
Album: Vintage Session By TD Camp; Double Discs
Location: San Francisco, CA
Website: http://www.hellarecords.com
If you don’t like these two albums then you automatically suck.  Classic Breaks … period.  Hella Records DJ, TD Camp throws some of the best old skool breaks on that the best of the best has ever heard of.  If you are any type of musician, producer or DJ then you will bootleg, purchase, download or whatever it is that you do to get this dual-disk deal.

Band: J Ross Parrelli
Album: Lov’n Mak’n Music
Location: Philadelphia
Website: http://www.parrelli.com
Give us a “H” for Hip-Hop and a “Hey..Ohh…Heeyy;” J Ross Parrelli is hip-hop’s underground cheerleader gone to drop lyrics like they hot and rise up above others all in the name of love and freedom.  Now, isn’t that lovely?  By the way, this diva is from Auburn, CA and resides on the east-side.  Next time J Ross is in town, please do yourself a favor and check this female out!

More Music?

Look forward to next week! We have some new, local music to review!  If you don’t see your CD here, please send us a press kit to:
