The 6th Annual One Love One Heart Reggae Festival

By Aaris A. Schroeder

Sacramento’s 6th Annual One Love One Heart Reggae Festival scheduled for August 29-31 and organized/founded by Help A Sister Out [H.A.S.O. LIVE] was a success. Will we see another One Love Fest?

H.A.S.O. Live began their works in ’09 and collectively has produced over 50 musical events with well known artists such as Anthony B, Richie Spice, Mykal Rose and more.

H.A.S.O. Stands for unity, community, love and support. Their words stand true, “Promoting unity and love through music. Our organization was founded and builds upon our dedication toward helping the people and communities that surround us.” You can see this at every event that they organize.

This three-day reggae love fest featured some of Sacramento’s favorite artists, The Wailing Souls, Dread Daze, Natural Black, Tuff Lion, King Hopeton, Mykal Rose, Junior X and Bambu Prophets. Selectas included Beatnok, Zion Roots and Irie Selecta.

There were many happy individuals and families who were in attendance as well as part of this unifying event. The festivities and campground are located at the Rio Ramaza Marina on Garden Highway, a perfect location for such a beautiful event.

Sponsors and vendors included Sacramento News and Review, Motherlode Reggae, SACALT, TITAN Insurance, Jerk Machine and more.

There were some special vendors in the house such as Cornerstone Reggae Culture Shop [Sebastopol, CA], Brenda and J’z Kitchen and Catering [8151 Civic Center Drive, Elk Grove, CA], Indriya Collection (Some really nice Faerie wear in Davis, CA) at http://www.shop.indriya.com. There was the guy who charged my phone, Hardy Watkins of “The Charging House” http://www.thecharginghouse.com and Ghazelle kon tumble’ El of Bali Spa and Wellness Center in Sacramento, CA.

Being able to take a break from the normal day to day work load with friends who inspire me was the best part of the weekend. This is one of the events I look forward to every year in Sacramento, a way to learn, believe, educate and reflect.

Thank you H.A.S.O. Live for this beautiful festival, many more to come!!
