Kauai-Based Hip-Hop Artist Son Da One to Release Highly Anticipated Self-Titled Album, Starting With ‘Garden Island Riderz’ Single

Kapaa, HI, October 20, 2020 – Son Da One Is Set To Release His Self-Titled Album December 2020 Produced by Southern Humboldt Collective (SHC) From Garberville, CA; A Long Time Coming For This Kauai-Born Artist Who Returned Home.

Son Da One’s history in the music scene runs deep as one of the first emcees on the island of Kauai. Son Da One has always had a passion for hip-hop and the culture it comes with and is the reason why he returned to Kauai, turning a new leaf in his life. Growing up, Son Da One focused on his family, whose rich history in music, visual and martial arts assisted him to become unique as a hip-hop artist.

Son Da One began his journey in the arts by throwing open-mics on-island with the legendary “The Highlanders,” crew adding Son Da One on as one of the featured emcees in the group, this is also when he was coined his emcee name. The crew worked within community to bring youth and young adults together to open-mics as well as their own inter-island shows, eventually garnering attention from record labels like Sony and Interscope of which the band turned down due to creative control.

In 2008, Son Da One made the move to Humboldt County where he learned and worked the cannabis trade for eight years while beginning to work on his first solo album with SHC. Due to the work-load, Son Da One finally found the time needed to have his music produced by G. Davis and JustOne; both part of SHC and upon starting his family with the birth of his daughter, he is happy to announce that his prolific self-titled album will drop December 2020. The first single released on the album, “Garden Island Riderz,” an ode to the local people of Kauai.

“Garden Island Riderz” has reggae-driven rhythm and profound meaning combined through his lyrical deliver. Son Da One communicates the connection that Hawaiian people have with each other and the land while preserving the culture and values of the Hawaiian people. Son Da One plans to release “There Can Be” featuring singer-songwriter Lacy Redhead next, to be released in November. Son Da One’s music runs deep as his lyrics are emotionally driven through subjects such as politics, spirituality, the ebbs and flow of island-life and deeper lyrics articulating morals and ethics in life. The album combines conscious and lively messages that anyone can relate to when they are proud of where they come from.

The self-titled album, “Son Da One” is a reflection of this emcee’s life; the struggles and triumphs, adding in all he has gone through on his journey to get back home to Kauai. Son Da One is currently looking for music reviews, features, interviews, sponsorships and performances when available remotely during the times we are in due to the pandemic.
