LOS ANGELES, Calif – Representing the new underground rap scene of Los Angeles is the formidable femcee Reverie, whose thoughtful and potent bars go hard for those on a mission to spread equality, love, and Hip Hop.
Born and raised in the Highland Park neighborhood of Northeast Los Angeles by a single mother, Reverie’s early life was marked by dysfunction. She ran away from home for the first time in the third grade, and her youth was a challenging mix of frequent visits to the school counselor, detention, and suspensions. Despite her behavioral issues, she excelled academically and found a safe haven in her poetry and art, even getting some of her work published. In the seventh grade, she discovered underground hip-hop, and her poems naturally transitioned into raps.

Her teenage years brought more struggles; an obsession with graffiti led to her first arrest and expulsion from school. She fell into gang life and heavily abused drugs to cope with depression. At the same time, her brother and future producer, Louden, was also battling addiction. After he was stabbed and sentenced to a year in juvenile detention, the family moved to Washington in hopes of a fresh start. It was there, in 2009, that they began recording music together, releasing Reverie’s first mixtape, ‘Castle In The Air.’ Within 24 hours, it had more than 3,000 plays—a sign that their music was meant for something much bigger.
This pivotal moment launched a career that has now spanned fourteen projects, with Reverie regularly touring across Europe and the USA to dedicated fans worldwide. Her organic, cult-like following is known as “The Satori Mob,” a name that also serves as her urban wear clothing brand. Her journey is a testament to her trailblazing path, having overcome the perils of addiction, depression, and gang life.

Her art vividly visualizes the many contrasting sides of being a Latino American from Los Angeles, making her an L.A. icon and a voice of the people who will undoubtedly withstand the test of time. Her latest track, “Power To The People,” serves as a powerful anthem of freedom of speech and community strength. In a statement, Reverie declared the song a direct response to recent events.
“These ICE Raids & all the propaganda behind them are a crystal clear attack on the Latin American community & we will not be silenced.” Reverie said.
The music video, a collaborative effort with Video Director and DoP Enkrypt as well as other talented crew members, visually reinforces this message.
