The Doundaboss Legacy: From Oakland Roots to South Sac Streets
Kyle Hendrix is a renaissance man of Northern California Hip Hop and business, known professionally by his dynamic moniker, JDK Daundaboss.
While he currently operates as the chief editor at Sac Report Magazine in Sacramento, California, his hustle runs far deeper than publishing. Born in Oakland, California and raised in South Sacramento’s Meadowview area, JDK Daundaboss began building his musical empire early, hitting the road in the early 1990s with his oldest brother, Rup Dog and making music since the age of 12.
This foundation allowed him to become well-known throughout California and surrounding states, featuring on many albums and compilations in the ’90s and 2000s. In 2005, he cemented his independence by creating his own brand and label, Need It Now Records. This venture eventually connected with EMPIRE for streaming distribution across all digital platforms. This success allowed JDK Daundaboss to expand the Need It Now brand into a true multimedia empire, encompassing Sac Report Magazine, Need It Now Merchandise apparel line and original animation creation.
A long-ago graduate of Hiram Johnson High School, JDK Daundaboss has been dedicated to the music game for over three decades. His impact extends beyond the stage and studio; he has been featured as an actor in the American Cream Movie and on television podcasts, Sirius Satellite Radio and various local radio stations. His powerful stage presence, combined with his reputation as one of Northern California’s best performers, recently earned him an honor at the West Coast Hip Hop Awards held in Southern California.

“Konnected and Respected” Bangs Hard
Now, JDK Daundaboss is coming at us with his newest music video, “Konnected and Respected,” which premiered on YouTube on Oct. 10. The single is part of his 2025 album, Research Junkie, released under Need It Now Records (2022).
The structure of the track is built to bang hard through speakers and is bound to get listeners bobbing and while keeping the money flowing. The song is an anthem for staying connected with others in his community—a principle JDK Daundaboss has long practiced.
The video starts by introducing the different angles and styles of JDK but as you listen to his lyrics, you see how connected he truly is. He has links to the business side, the music side (artistic side) and to the streets. He is also overtly money-minded, delivering lines like, “if you are not a hustler, you are a thief” and a little later, “there is no room for failure.” This lyrical confidence showcases why he is known as a real lyrical assassin, whether he’s performing live or releasing another issue of Sac Report Magazine.
🪝 The Hook
“If you ask me a question
I will tell no lies
There is no room for failure.
That’s why I keep this money on my mind
Where the money at?”
Atmospheric and almost chant-like, the hook for “Konnected and Respected” grounds the track. The video was produced by Mighty Visions while working with AirPlay (Makes Beats, Music Licensing, Scoring Movies). Dope props to JDK’s family business, Family Ties: Barber & Beauty Shop located at 4206 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Oak Park, showing his loyalty to his family and entire team!
