LOS ANGELES, CA — With nearly twenty years of captivating appearances on runways, seasoned model Dana Rodriguez continues to define longevity and versatility in the fashion industry, now gracing the pages of digital magazines like RealList Magazine and Goat Boyz Magazine and online magazines like UBO MAG. Since beginning her career in 2006, her enduring passion for modeling has translated into a diverse portfolio, underscoring a powerful presence both in editorial spreads and on the catwalk.
At 53-years-old and standing at a striking 5’10″, Rodriguez brings a refined expertise to every collaboration. Her work spans a broad spectrum, from high-fashion editorial and dynamic fitness campaigns to glamour, lifestyle, and swimwear, each project infused with her signature energy and professionalism. Known for her strong, polished look and adaptable approach, she consistently delivers compelling visual storytelling.
Rodriguez is actively seeking new partnerships with creatives, brands, and photographers who value authenticity, not withholding her extensive experience. Her continued work with UBO MAG highlights her ability to seamlessly embody diverse concepts, proving that true artistry in modeling only deepens with time.
The Hustle: Turning Hardship into High Fashion
Rodriguez’s journey to the lens was anything but typical. Initially, the goal was the court, not a catwalk. A dedicated jock in school, she had her sights set on playing volleyball at UNLV. A severe knee injury requiring replacement surgery, however, took college off the table.
“I’ve always wanted to model since I was young but I was always a jock at school.” Rodriguez shares, “I broke my knee, had to have knee replacement and that took care of my schooling because we couldn’t afford college. So I decided to try modeling because I had the height and was told I would be good at it.”
Using her natural height and the encouragement of others, Rodriguez decided to channel her athleticism into modeling, proving that it’s never too late to start the grind. Her longevity in the game is no accident; she attributes it to perseverance and adaptability.
“I always try to adapt to the changes in the industry and never pay attention when someone tells me I can’t because of my age. It makes me want to try harder. I never gave up,” she states, noting the challenge of her age. “I have to convince the photographers I’m just as good, if not better than, the younger models because of my experience.”
Opposition just fuels the next project—it doesn’t break her stride. A pivotal career moment came when she successfully sold a large catalog of her early work with a particular photographer, a move that helped boost her career and gave her more confidence to keep pushing on, as paraphrased by Rodriguez.

The Art of the Shoot: More Than Just a Pretty Face
“Definitely talking to the photographer ahead of time and discussing their vision and listening to direction very precisely.”Rodriguez’s process for connecting with a concept; she goes on to emphasize, “a lot of questions to be sure you’re picking up their concept like they envision,” and researching similar shoots to spark her own creative ideas.
While her portfolio is vast—from glamour to sportswear—she has intentionally refined her focus. Today, she’s dedicated to showcasing a strong, classy look, deliberately moving away from the industry’s pervasive focus on nudity.
“I have seen many well-taken photos of beautiful women fully clothed who were more beautiful than the naked centerfold laid out next to her. That’s what I strive for.” Her polished image is maintained through discipline and support: “Healthy eating, getting lots of rest and exercise and having a lot of support really helps you to have a professional, polished look.”
Building the Legacy
Looking ahead, Rodriguez is seeking strong, respectful alliances. Her “ideal collaboration” involves a partnership with a seasoned photographer who can offer guidance on the business.
“You can go to [them] with questions on other projects is something very desired because they’ve been through the business for a while and know how to spot fake jobs or photographers and advise you how to deal with things you may have questions on.” Rodriguez shares.
“I hope to leave an impact that I didn’t stop, no matter what came against me, whether it be age discrimination, race discrimination, or anything else. I made my mark on the industry by not giving up.” As a veteran model, Rodriguez is determined to leave a powerful message: she didn’t stop.
Off-camera, her greatest inspiration is simple but profound: her family, children and grandchildren. Rodriguez carries a strong philosophy about prioritizing positive energy and cherishing life.
“Life is awesome, you have to enjoy it because you only get one shot at it. Don’t spend time in negative spaces; don’t let that take away from your energy,” she shares.
Rodriguez also uses her veteran experience to offer a solemn caution, noting that one surprising truth about the modeling world is the dark reality of trafficking that can occur with young models.
“Do more research before going out on jobs and get references.” Says Rodriguez, who uses her veteran experience to offer a solemn caution, noting that one surprising truth about the modeling world is the dark reality of trafficking that can occur with young models.
Rodriguez’s collaboration with UBO MAG excites her because of the opportunity to share her story and gain visibility within the publication’s diverse range of genres.
